REVIEWS OF OUR STUDENTS
Currently doing judo here with Sensei Mach and the wrestling evolution team. Extremely professional, no ego, no peer pressure, and very respectful culture. But that doesn't mean you aren't in for a real challenge. Been to many different martial arts gyms and this checks off all the boxes and more. Always a good time here!
The club is pretty nice in comparison to other judo clubs in Astoria. I've got couple of years of experience and since moving to New York, I've got the pleasure to test out a couple of options in Astoria. Sensei Mach's club is one of a kind. Great people, great atmosphere - perfect for beginners and experienced people.

Does Judo have belts?
There are 2 groups of belt holders, Kyu grades and Dan grades. Kyu grades, also known as mu-dan-sha, are for beginners learning the art of Judo, which consists of 6 ranks starting with brown belt (Ikkyu), followed by blue belt (Nikyu), green belt (Sankyu), orange belt (Yonkyu), yellow belt (Gokyu), and lastly white belt (Rokyu). After which, a test will be taken by the Rokyu, to advance further into the Dan grades (Black Belt Grades).
The black belt group is called yū-dan-sha, which also means “black belt holder”. There are ten ranks within this group starting with a first degree black belt.
